For seven years John was head gardener on a 50 acre estate in Westchester County. Here he honed his skills in alpine gardening, greenhouse propagation, vegetable gardening, woodland restoration and natural gardening on a grand scale. He worked alongside contractors developing programs for irrigation and meadow development.
